What is the tour?

                   “Water: local and international source of citizen’s cooperation”

In the fall of 2008 and winter of 2009, as part of the Canadian International Development Agency’s (CIDA) public engagement program, the ISW organized an awareness raising tour focusing on the issues concerning water and sanitation not only in developing countries but also in Canada. The “Water: local and international source of citizen’s cooperation” tour started on November 18th, 2008, and was presented across the country to mostly collegiate level students, from British-Columbia to Newfoundland. The ISW’s goal during this tour was to show the youths how important citizen’s implication is by sharing the results of the last three years’ worth of projects. Another important goal was to make them aware of the problems related to water and sanitation both in Canada and abroad and to motivate them to get involved in the matter, whether at home or through international cooperation projects.

The tour has visited 22 Canadian schools and has reached out to close to 1 000 Canadians.  The following cities were visited during the fall 2008/winter 2009 tour:
