The International Citizen Cooperation |
|
What is the International Citizen Cooperation?
It is a type of cooperation and/or solidarity stemming from the initiative of committed citizens. Its aim is to ameliorate different populations’ quality of life, while taking into account the individual needs and demands, and respecting the distinctive sociocultural, economic and environmental features of each.
It is a process that puts human beings at the forefront and whose principles are the following:
- Mutual enrichment based on cooperation and sharing experiences, knowledge and know-how.
- Adoption of the projects by those implementing and managing them to insure longevity.
- Creation of lasting bonds that go far beyond age, race, sex, and social and cultural status.
- Being part of a group that shares the same ideals, views and values.
Our involvement in the International Citizen Cooperation
Water is a shared, universal resource. It is a link without borders between populations that is fundamental to our quality of life, our well-being, and our dignity.
We, world citizens assembled at the Biosphere for the Celebration of Lakes and Rivers, are aware of our responsibility to preserve this precious resource.
Because of this, we pledge ourselves to contribute to the emergence and reinforcement of the citizen’s movement for water which will permit us to:
- get implicated at home, with the help of neighbors, and stay connected to other projects happening elsewhere in the world.
- help each other vanquish obstacles and make the international citizen cooperation possible.
- encourage, promote and increase the number of our local and international cooperation projects.
- strengthen our presence at global debates, especially to give a voice to concerned local citizens.
- make our dreams of water for everyone come true.
